The Urbanna Town Council is asking an engineering firm for specific details on options to replace the Urbanna Town Marina bridge.
At its Feb. 12 regular semi-monthly meeting, council had numerous questions as it reviewed a proposed contract from engineers Whitman, Requardt and Associates (WRA), that had blank spaces that needed to be filled in, including maximum costs and a completion date for a temporary bridge.
It was indicated the town would like to have a way for motor vehicles to cross the 16-foot span by Memorial Day — which is three months away. A temporary bridge is being considered.

Town Attorney Andrea Erard told council it may be possible for the engineers to attend council’s next meeting on Feb. 26 at 6 p.m. via Zoom to answer questions “so that we can approve a contract at the next meeting and move forward with a temporary fix. And then at the same time do an RFP (Request For Proposals) for the bridge replacement itself.”
