The town received three bids for the temporary bridge. Council chose the bid by Faulconer Construction Company Inc. of Charlottesville, which anticipates starting work Sept. 8. The project is estimated to take three days.

The bridge was designed by the Timmons Group of Richmond. It is certified to support fire trucks and vehicles up to 45,000 pounds (22.5 tons), said Urbanna Mayor Robbie Wilson.
