Nearly four inches of rain fall in two hours

Pouring rain flooded the 1970s portion of Middlesex High School on Friday, Aug. 28, which included the John S. Clements Memorial Gymnasium, weight room, locker rooms, carpentry area, team rooms and training room.

Based on National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Atlas 14 precipitation frequency estimates, the approximately two-hour rainfall event, was estimated to have dropped three and a half to four inches of rain water on Saluda and is classified as a one-in-50-year rainfall event.
