Supervisor to EDA: Fix roof of old Cooks Corner building

The old Rappahannock Central Elementary School (RCE) auditorium/cafeteria building was scheduled to be refurbished as part of a brewpub project funded with a $1.35 million state grant. When developers recently dropped out due to COVID-19 economic pressure, the question of what to do with an RCE failing roof is now in the forefront. (Photo by Larry Chowning)

With the pull-out of developers in the Cooks Corner brewpub project, at least one county supervisor feels an urgency now to repair the roof on the old Rappahannock Central Elementary (RCE) school cafeteria/auditorium building.

Harmony Village Supervisor Reggie Williams cautioned board members on Tuesday, Dec. 1, that the roof at RCE is in need of major repair and needs to be worked on soon.
