Developers pull out of proposed Cooks Corner brewpub project

The severe economic pressure of the COVID-19 pandemic has forced developers of the proposed Cooks Corner brewpub to pull out of the project, Gordon White, chairman of the Middlesex County Economic Development Authority (EDA), announced Monday.

Saying that he was disappointed but still hopeful that the site could be developed, White said he hoped failure of the brewpub portion of the Cooks Corner project would not substantially affect the workforce housing portion of the revitalization project on the north side of General Puller Highway (Route 33).

During a visit to Middlesex Gov. Ralph Northam announced on March 25, 2019, more than $2.7 million in grants from the commonwealth to support the project, of which $1.35 million would have gone towards construction of the brewpub.

The project was to have involved moving the former St. Clare Walker School Vocational Education building across General Puller Highway…
