• Authorities seek pickup that sideswiped van
The Virginia State Police (VSP) is investigating a hit-and-run collision that occurred on the Norris Bridge at approximately 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, reported Robin Lawson, VSP public relations director.
Authorities are asking for assistance in locating the silver-gray pickup truck pulling a very long camper, said Lawson. It was heading westbound on the Norris Bridge (Route 3) going from Middlesex County to Lancaster County when it crossed the centerline and sideswiped a minivan going in the opposite direction.
This contact caused the minivan to collide with an oncoming pickup truck in a near head-on crash. Both vehicles were damaged in the left front. These drivers were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Video
The pickup truck pulling the long “Salem” silver and black camper continued across the Norris Bridge where it was recorded on video by a Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) camera. The silver gray truck continued on Route 3 and was recorded on video going through the White Stone stoplight at approximately 6:11 p.m. The truck and camper then went through Kilmarnock where it was seen on video. The crash occurred closer to the south side of the bridge.
Anyone with information regarding this incident is asked to contact Virginia State Police Senior Trooper D.M. Goddard at 804-832-5853.
Earlier crash
This Aug. 1 crash occurred in the same section of the Norris Bridge where a fiery head-on crash on July 13 claimed the lives of a White Stone woman and a Hampton man.
