Robert G. Carter Sr., known as Gilbert, died Friday, Sept. 11, 2026. He was born July 10, 1949 and had lived in Middlesex County all his life.
He was a hard working man. From Steve Ashley Logging to Carter’s Landscaping, where his devoted wife worked along side him for more than 40 years. Most people called them lovebirds because his wife would sit right beside him in their truck.
Traveling from one job site to the other, Robert Carter Sr. loved his family and community. Robert and Dorothy had four children together, Vincent Carter, Robert Carter Jr., Sharone Carter and Erica Carter. A simple man that touched so many because of his kind heart.
The viewing will be 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 19 at J.K. Redmond Funeral Home in Shacklefords. The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20 at Mount Zion Baptist Church, Church View. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
