At 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Nov. 8, at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Rappahannock church, 366 James Wharf Drive, White Stone, Suzanne Shepherd will discuss “Developing a Community Response to Homelessness.”
She will explore how folks can come together as a community to build connections, strengthen resources, and support individuals and families experiencing housing insecurity and homelessness. Shepherd will provide a better understanding of the extent of homelessness across the Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck and discuss the roles, functions of the governmental, community, and religious organizations and individuals working to address these challenges. All are welcome to attend the service and encouraged to join in coffee, refreshments and fellowship afterward.
Shepherd has been a housing support specialist with Bay Aging for the past two and a half years. Bay Aging provides support and community services for older adults and individuals with disabilities throughout Virginia, including emergency assistance, housing crisis intervention, and home repair programs.
Previously, Shepherd was the support coordinator for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at Middle Peninsula and Northern Neck Behavioral Health.
