The sewer study and engineering for the Topping area “marches on,” Lud Kimbrough told the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors during its Oct. 5 meeting.
On May 4, the board of supervisors unanimously voted to authorize Timmons Engineering to design a “low pressure system” (LPS) wastewater collection set-up for Topping.
“The Topping engineering work that has been developed by Timmons is in discussion with HRSD and HRSD is still evaluating some of the concepts that we’ve put forth to reduce our (the county’s) capital costs,” Kimbrough told the board. A meeting is set for October 25 where HRSD “will evaluate our recommendations and hopefully give us a green light for finishing the Topping engineering so then we can go to bids for Topping.”
Unless HRSD changes its policy, the county would need to be responsible for operating an LPS system.
The LPS requires a sewage “grinder” to be paid for by each customer. The grinder is estimated to cost $4,500 plus installation of about $1,500. The customer will also pay to have the sewer line run…
