Member of White Stone church has new Peace Corps role

Will help empower Kosovo women

Katherine Cassidy, a member of Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of the Rappahannock (UUFR), a White Stone church, received a fond farewell from the congregation on Feb. 15, after her talk, “Good Opportunities and Goodbyes.”

She is leaving the White Stone community to become a Peace Corps volunteer in Kosovo. Her last day in the area was Feb. 26.

Founded by President John F. Kennedy in 1961, the Peace Corps has had nearly 250,000 volunteers serving in 100 countries in its 65 years. Today, more than 3,000 volunteers serve in 65 countries, 7.5% of them are ages 50 and older.

Cassidy, 66, first dreamed of joining the Peace Corps back in 1978…
