
A body recovered from a house fire in Deltaville on Saturday has been sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Richmond for an autopsy, reported Maj. M.E. Sampson of the Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).
The fire at 828 Paces Neck Road was reported at 11:06 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 23, said Maj. Sampson, adding the fire is under investigation, and at this time, foul play is not suspected.
Maj. Sampson declined to identify who lived in the residence pending the autopsy.
When firefighters arrived on scene the older wooden structure’s roof had collapsed and fire was coming from every window, said Paul Murray, assistant chief of the Lower Middlesex Volunteer Fire Department. Murray was incident commander at Friday’s fire. “It was in a very advanced stage by the time we were notified.” Firefighters took a defensive mode to keep the blaze from spreading…
