Schools in MC hit COVID case high mark

by Larry Chowning –

The Middlesex County Public Schools COVID-19 update from Sept. 25 to Oct. 1 had 19 individuals reporting positive virus test results, the highest weekly number of cases reported since school started.

The cases resulted in 67 individuals being quarantined because of contact with those individuals who tested positive for COVID-19 at school and on buses.

Since Middlesex County schools started on Aug. 23, there have been 43 individuals to test positive for COVID-19 and 195 quarantined.

School Superintendent Dr. Tracy Seitz said in an email that contact has been made with the families of those who are required to quarantine. “It is not necessary for any other students or staff to enter quarantine at this time,” she said.

In keeping with school system policy, Seitz did not specify which school or schools were affected, nor say whether those testing positive were students or staff or some mix of the two.
