The public can sound off on the Middlesex County Board of Supervisors’ proposed $37,345,788 budget at a public hearing set for 7 p.m., Thursday, May 21 at the Middlesex County Historic Courthouse, 865 General Puller Highway, Saluda. The budget, which is for fiscal year 2026-2027 (FY 26-27), will include no real estate or personal property tax increases.
The budget reflects a proposed decrease in the personal property airplane tax rate. The current rate is $2.10 per hundred dollars of assessed value. The proposed budget has the airplane tax at $.62, which is the same rate as on boats five tons or greater.
The airplane tax is not a large revenue source for the county. Twenty-eight thousand, three-hundred and fifty-seven dollars was collected last year…
