Middlesex High School junior star football player Jakub Bowen was nominated to participate in The National Combine in Frisco, Texas, on Dec. 18-21.

Bowen was named 2025 Tidewater District Defensive Player of the Year for his play at middle linebacker. He was also named All-region A for his linebacker play and for his all-purpose defensive play. He averaged 10.3 tackles a game and had two pass interceptions.
Bowen also played offense for the Chargers, scoring five rushing touchdowns (TD) and one TD through the air. He averaged 7.5 rushing yards per carry per game and averaged 35 rushing yards a game.
The National Combine is held annually at The Star (Ford Center) in Frisco featuring top high school football players (ninth through 12th grade) for skill showcases, evaluations and potential college exposure.
The program is run by the U.S. Army Bowl Committee as part of their Military Appreciation Bowl Week, with top high school athletes across the country invited to participate.
The event includes combined testing, 40-yard dash, broad jump, shuttle run and L drill; on-field position skill development from National Football League players and NCAA college coaches; an evaluation of skills; and an athlete report card and year-round training plan.
Bowen is the son of Mark and Stephanie Bowen of Hardyville.
Mark Bowen is the head football coach at MHS.
