Middlesex girls basketball team falls to KW, Mathews

The Middlesex High School (MHS) Lady Charger varsity basketball team suffered two losses in the final week before the holiday break. Middlesex lost 59-45 at King William, an AA school, on Dec. 15. King William held a 35-19 lead at the half.

The Lady Chargers played hard in the second half but fell short.

Mathews 40, Middlesex 37

On Dec. 18, the varsity Lady Chargers lost to visiting Mathews 40-37. The Lady Chargers held a 37-30 lead with four minutes left in the game. However, Mathews put up 10 unanswered points to win the game.


The varsity and junior varsity (JV) Lady Chargers will host Charles City on Thursday, Jan. 8, 2026. The JV plays at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity follows at 7 p.m.

On Tuesday, Jan. 6, 2026 at 4:45 p.m., only the JV Lady Chargers will host King and Queen Central. The Tigers do not have a varsity team.
