The Middlesex High School (MHS) Charger varsity baseball team (7-8, 3-2) defeated arch-rival Mathews High School, 16-1, in a Tidewater District contest on Friday, May 8, behind strong pitching from Nathan Rutkowski.

Rutkowski pitched a complete game holding the Blue Devils to one run, on four hits and nine strikeouts. He allowed only one base on ball to pace Middlesex.

The Chargers offense aided Rutkowski with eight hits…
