
Middlesex High School’s Miko Layne was the fastest female participating in the Oct. 8 five-way cross country meet at West Point. M. Layne crossed the finish line in 21 minutes, 51 seconds on the 5K course.
Her Charger girls team captured runner-up honors at the meet, scoring 33 points. West Point scored best with 27 points, King William finished third with 66 points and Lancaster finished fourth with 98 points. Essex did not have enough girl runners to compete as a team.
Other times for the Middlesex girl harriers include, second, Keichan Layne, 22:00; seventh, Aleena Reza, 24:53; 10th, Elsie Williams, 25:52; 11th, Makayla Moore, 26:34; 15th, Sarah Laster, 29:41; and 20th, Olivia Hoffield, 32:03.
Boys cross country
Darius Jones had the fastest time for Middlesex’s boy harriers at the meet, finishing third with an 18-minute, 21 second time. Other times for the Charger boys include, fifth, Tanner Janisko, 18:37; sixth, Gunnar Marston, 19:15; 10th, Kevin Turner, 20:09; 11th, Chris Butler, 20:24; 17th, Cayden McDearmon, 21:46; 21st, Allen Leonard, 22:30; 23rd, Mason Kiku, 22:36; 24th, Brycen Hogge, 23:10; and 26th, Matthew Williams, 25:39.
As a team, the Middlesex boys captured runner-up honors with 33 points. King William’s boys placed first with 22 points. West Point, Lancaster and Essex did not have enough boys participating to compete as a team
