The Christchurch School (CCS) boys soccer team kicked off a strong start to the season with a 7-0 win over Walsingham Academy (Williamsburg) last week.

This Friday and Saturday, the Seahorses will host the Jason Soucek Memorial Soccer Tournament in memory and honor of CCS graduate and Middlesex County resident Jason “Juice” Soucek, CCS Class of 1992. Jason is the son of Archie (’61) and Claudia Soucek of Saluda. Jason Soucek died in 1996 while a student at Roanoke College.

At Christchurch, Jason was a standout in soccer, basketball, and lacrosse, earning Best All-Around Athlete honors in 1992.

The Seahorses will play The Steward School of Richmond at 3 p.m. at Nunn Field, on the school’s lower campus. St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes (Alexandria) will play Mercersburg Academy (Mercersburg, Pa.) at 5 p.m.

Teams will play in a consolation game on Saturday at 11 a.m., and the championship game will take place at 1 p.m.

Captains for the 2025 season are seniors Finley Caisse of Hartfield and Manu Vieytez Arguello of El Salvador.

CCS Head Soccer Coach David Burrell leads the team. Aaron Alter and Evan Pausic (’17)  assist.

“Come on out to watch some great soccer action on beautiful Nunn Field, overlooking the Rappahannock River,” a CCS spokesman urged. The games are free and open to the public.
