State qualifier pair returning,
but mat squad mostly young

The Middlesex High School (MHS) 2025-2026 wrestling team has two fourth year Virginia High School League (VHSL) Class One state qualifiers returning on this year’s roster. However, overall the Charger mat crew is young — eight grapplers on the 16-player squad’s roster are ninth graders and one is an eighth grader

“We’ve got a young team,” said MHS Head Coach James Cox. “We have two seniors and three juniors on the team and the rest are from lower classes. It is going to be a learning season for us.”

The returning wrestlers include seniors Zach Dean and Andrew Harrow, both fourth year state qualifiers. Dean has been a star in the 190/215 weight classes and Harrow has been a dominate force for the Chargers in the 165/175 weight classes.

Others returning from last year’s team include Kyle Curtis, 165-pound weight class, Wyatt Kiku, 144-pound weight division; and Dominic Snyder in the 150-pound class.

The Chargers have three Lady Chargers on the team — eighth grader, Dalaney Moore; and freshmen girls, Ayla Oliver and Maci Powell are on the team. Powell has been designated a starter in the 132-pound weight class.

Other starters on the team are ninth grader, Timothy Hall, 113/120-pound weight classes; Wyatt Longworth, 215/285-pound classes; ninth grader, and Bladen Moore, 157-pound weight division.

Others on the roster are junior Jordan Fuller, Daniel Robertson and Jayden Tang, who will all be seeing action.
