Coach confident tennis team will notch wins this season

Young players will need to concentrate
on mastering fundamentals

Middlesex High School Head Girls Tennis Coach Matthew Short said he thinks his team will do well this season. “We have a lot of young talent and desire to play tennis,” Coach Short said. “It’s hard to say exactly how we’ll do without seeing the teams play, but I’m confident we will get the wins needed. We play five schools, twice each — Lancaster, West Point, Mathews, Northampton and Rappahannock (of Warsaw).”

Competing in the Class 1, Region A, Tidewater District, last year’s MHS girls tennis team finished with a 4-5 record, reported Coach Short, who is entering his 15th year at the helm of the Chargers tennis program.
