Keep Virginia Beautiful has accepted 42 teens across Virginia to participate in its Student Ambassadors for Virginia’s Environment (SAVE) program. This leadership program for high school juniors and seniors is heading into its fourth year this fall. SAVE Ambassadors will improve their respective communities by conducting litter cleanups, implementing community education projects, and completing other activities focused on environmental stewardship.
This year’s ambassadors represent several regions of Virginia, with three from Southwest, five from Blue Ridge, six from Central, five from Greater Richmond, two from Northern Neck, three from Middle Peninsula, nine from Northern and nine from Hampton Roads.
Sophia Sandlin from Hartfield attends the Chesapeake Bay Governor’s School for Marine and Environmental Science and was accepted into the SAVE program. As an Ambassador, she aims to educate others about environmental conservation.
