The Ushers Ministry of Union Shiloh Baptist Church in Jamaica will  celebrate their anniversary on Sunday, June 14, at 3 p.m. The musical guest will be the Male Chorus from Union Hope Baptist Church, Center Cross.


All are invited to attend the Sunday, May 31, 9 a.m. worship service at the Bethpage Camp-Resort amphitheater. Dress is casual. In case of inclement weather, go to Bethpage’s pavilion or rally center.

This non-denominational gathering of fellowship, worship and music has been co-hosted by Urbanna Baptist Church and Bethpage for 45 summers.

This Sunday’s speaker is the Rev. John Wright, pastor of Immanuel Baptist Church, Saluda. Music will be led by Charles “Bunny” Dunlevy of Urbanna United Methodist Church.

Harmony Grove Baptist Church in Harmony Village near Topping will host its annual vacation Bible school 5:30-8 p.m. nightly June 7-11. This year’s theme will be “Rainforest Falls: Exploring the Nature of God.”

The church is located at the intersection of Route 3 and Route 33. Its physical address is 7722 General Puller Highway.

The Middlesex County Literary Union Session will convene at St. Paul Baptist Church in Jamaica on Sunday, May 31, at 10 a.m. The adult Sunday school lesson is entitled, “Living in a Christian Community.” The background scripture is Matthew 28:18-20, Hebrews 10:22-25.

The pastor of St. Paul is the Rev. Kenneth G. Dunn.


The congregation of Zion Branch Baptist Church, Saluda, will celebrate their 134th church anniversary at 3 p.m. Sunday, June 7.  The guest speaker will be Pastor Donald Moss of Mount Olive Baptist Church, King William, along with his choir and congregation. In addition to the choir, there will be the musical guests Benjamin Vincent and Friends of Vincent Funeral Home, West Point. Come on out and fellowship with them.

Urbanna United Methodist Church, 221 Marston Ave., will have vacation Bible school, July 20-24, 8:50-11 a.m. for ages 4 1/2 to 11 years old. There will be music, crafts, Bible stories and recreation.

Congregants at Lower United Methodist Church (LUMC) at 120 Lower Church Road, Hartfield, invite everyone to join them this Sunday at 10:30 a.m. for their traditional worship service in our historic sanctuary.

Adult Sunday school is offered Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m. in LUMC Fellowship Hall, preceded by Coffee Fellowship beginning at 9:15 a.m.

Their women’s choral ensemble, Wellspring, meets Monday at 6 p.m.; and at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, their handbell choir, Embellish, will practice.

The community is invited to stop by LUMC Fellowship Hall Wednesdays from 7:30 to 9 a.m. for free coffeehouse drinks.

Calvary Baptist Church, Christchurch, will have a Women’s Day program on Sunday, June 7, at 3 p.m. The theme of the program is Christian Joy, Philippians 4:4. The guest speaker will be Minister Rose Mason of First Baptist Church, Mathews. A guest choir will render the music.

All women are welcome to help them celebrate this special day and should wear any pastel color.

All Saints Anglican Catholic Church, 48 New St., Saluda, is a welcome refuge for many people of different faiths coming together for worship, praise, beautiful music, fun fellowship and sharing the enduring love of Jesus Christ.

Share with them the Holy Communion service on Sunday mornings at 11:15 a.m., following a 10 a.m. adult Bible study. Fellowship after the service is a wonderful coffee hour with friends!

On Wednesdays, they conduct a noon lunchtime 30-minute Holy Communion service, which also includes prayers for the nation. There is no sermon. You may wish to bring a bag lunch and meet with friends after the service in the parish hall next door.
