Church of the Visitation (COV) has announced that its major fundraising event for their Ghana Well Project will take place on Saturday, June 6, from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Called “Pay-to-Play,” the game night will include bingo, poker, black jack, mahjong, uno, dominos, cornhole, connect four, and for the quieter contestants, puzzle sheets. Tickets will be on sale at the door for $1 each.
Food (hot dog, chips, and soda), wine, and beer each cost five tickets. Each time you win a game, you get a prize ticket to enter a drawing for one of the many prizes. Those tickets and a separate raffle for a Blackstone griddle will be drawn at the end of the evening. Winners for an additional silent auction will also be announced.
All proceeds will go towards the Ghana Well Project, the goal of which is to provide clean water to the gold mining villages in Ghana whose only source of water is polluted and poisoned with cyanide, mercury, and other chemicals used in mining. COV is building a well with solar power and reverse osmosis to provide clean water for several villages. The goal is $25,000 for the well; additional funds will extend waterlines closer to the villages.
Church of the Visitation is located on 8462 General Puller Highway (Route 33), in Topping. Contact the church office at 804-758-5160.
