Christchurch School (CCS), 49 Seahorse Lane, Christchurch, will host the 36th annual John Stone Memorial Basketball Tournament Friday and Saturday, Dec. 12 and 13, in CCS’s Yarbrough Gymnasium.
The tournament is conducted each year in memory of John Stone, a 1986 Christchurch School graduate, reported CCS Communications Assistant Jennifer Homer. This year, the Seahorses will host Veritas Collegiate, Cape Henry Collegiate and Oak Tree Academy.
The tournament will tip off at 5 p.m. Friday with Cape Henry Collegiate versus Veritas Collegiate. Christchurch will play Oak Tree Academy at 7 p.m.
The consolation round will begin at noon on Saturday and the championship game will follow at 2 p.m.
The tournament is free and open to the public.
The Seahorses are coached by Scott Barker in his first year as head varsity coach at Christchurch. Barker is assisted by Nick Smith, Don Harris and John Alachnowicz.
Team captains are Kaden O’Brien-James and Yan Ivanov.
Area students on the team include Micah Oakes of Gloucester, Darius Toulson of White Stone and Alijah Cook of Gloucester.
