The Middlesex County Board of Supervisors approved on Sept. 1 a $161,931 bid to pave five parking areas around the courthouse campus in Saluda.

The approved bid was from Pro-Seal Services of Powhatan, an asphalt service company that specializes in paving, sealcoating, crack repair, milling, overlay and pothole repair.

The firm will repave 3,948 square yards of pavement directly around the new Middlesex County courthouse building. The paved parking lot is nearly 20 years old and has started to crack in places.
