Christchurch School’s gridiron Seahorses get twin decisive victories

Christchurch School (CCS) returned to 11-man football with a bang, opening the season with two decisive wins. 

The team traveled to Isle of Wight to play Isle of Wight Academy, returning home with a 50-6 victory over the Chargers.

In Saturday’s home opener against Charlottesville’s Covenant School, the Seahorses shut out the Eagles 36-0.

CCS Head Coach Joel Jorgensen is assisted by Charles Murrell, Donovan Hayes, Wesley West, Fred West, Floyd Crouch and Kobe Scales (’CCS 20).

The team captains include Will Flagg (Williamsburg), Christian Mongillo (North Haven, Conn.), Eli Belizor (Monroe, Conn.) and Liam Rooney (Roanoke).

The Seahorses are at home again this Saturday as they take on the Central Virginia Disciples of the Central Home School Athletic Association at Dischinger Field on CCS’s upper campus.

The public is invited to come out and cheer on the gridiron Seahorses. Admission is free.

Kickoff is set for noon.
