Cadillac strikes man on Route 17

A pedestrian struck by a vehicle on U.S. Route 17 on Monday was airlifted from the scene, reported Sgt. J. Teagle of the Virginia State Police’s Gloucester office.

According to authorities, Trooper S.E. Roberts was dispatched to the single vehicle crash involving a pedestrian at 9:16 p.m. about a mile south of Old Virginia Street (Route 602). The pedestrian was identified as Gary Lee Powell II with an Urbanna address. Powell was airlifted to VCU Medical Center in Richmond with reportedly non-life threatening injuries sustained from the crash.

The driver of the 2004 Cadillac that struck Powell was identified as Carla Renee Minor-Blake of Jamaica in upper Middlesex. She was not injured in the crash. 

At this point in the investigation, it is believed Powell was walking in the roadway at the time he was struck. No charges have been placed and the crash is still under investigation at this time, said Sgt. Teagle.
