Christchurch girls basketball wins championship trophy

The Christchurch School girls basketball team has hit its stride in the new year! The team traveled to Alexandria to compete in the prestigious St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes Girls Invitational Basketball Tournament on Jan. 9 and 10.

The Seahorse girls defeated host St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes 55-40 and Southern Maryland Christian Academy 70-64 to bring home the championship trophy.

The team is coached by Glenn Harper. Taylor Carter is assistant coach. Team captains are seniors Sienna Rowe of Urbanna, Avery Thomas of Cobbs Creek, and Lex Foster of Gloucester. 

Upcoming home games for the team include matches against Isle of Wight Academy on Jan. 27 at 7 p.m.; Trinity Episcopal School on Feb. 6…
