Carolyn Extine of Walnut Hill Auctions is changing the way the Middle Peninsula thinks about auctions.

“A faded photograph sat tucked away in a trunk for generations — unseen, unknown. Until an auction brought it back to the family and where else but an auction could someone discover a photograph of a grandfather they had never seen?” said Extine, owner and auctioneer of Walnut Hill Auctions.

“Moments like that are why I do what I do,” she said. “But make no mistake — auctions are not simply about nostalgia. They are about strategy, value, and results.”

She said that when you say the word auction many people picture fast talking and distressed property. The fast talking may be true. The distressed property? Far from it…
