Virginia Cary Sears Acors 

Virginia Cary Sears Acors passed away on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026, surrounded by family. Also affectionately known as “Mikey,” she lived a full life.

Virginia was born in Gressitt on Sept. 10, 1939.

She graduated from Pleasant Hill High School in King & Queen County. Virginia was a lifelong member of Shackelfords Chapel United Methodist Church in Cologne, where she taught Sunday school, Bible school and served as custodian for more than 20 years.

Virginia retired from King & Queen County School system after 30 years as a teacher’s aide. She loved being outside in her flower and vegetable gardens, enjoyed the beach and spending time with her family and friends.

Virginia is preceded in death by her parents, George C. Sears and Virginia G. Sears; and sister, Joyce S. Wright.

She is survived by her son, Keith, and his wife Beth; siblings, Margaret Varboncoeur, Frances Carter, George (GC) Sears; 12 nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.

Virginia had great affection for her family and maintained a particularly close relationship with her nephews Lynn, Dale and Norman Wright.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 20 at Vincent Funeral Home, West Point. A funeral service is planned for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 21 at Shackelfords Chapel United Methodist Church, 3727 Buena Vista Road, Cologne. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. There will be no reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shackelfords Chapel Cemetery Fund, 5001 Sturgeon Point Road, Providence Forge, VA 23140, C/O Mary Adams.
