Thomas J. Foley Jr. (Tommy)

Thomas J. Foley Jr. (Tommy) passed suddenly in a tragic accident on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026, at his parents’ home in Locust Hill.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas J. Foley Sr.

He is survived by his loving mother, Beatrice Mary (Long); his wife, Tammy Marie Coughlin Foley; his beloved son, Thomas J. Foley III; his sister, Shannan Erin Foley (Karla); and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends who were like family.

Tommy was born on Nov. 10, 1968, in Norristown, Pa., where he was welcomed with immense love and joy by the entire extended Foley family.

He attended St. Paul’s Catholic School, where he formed lifelong friendships. He often reminisced about playing youth football. Those Pennsylvania friendships remained strong through the years, as his Pennsylvania friends would gather with his family in Virginia during the summers, creating memories that lasted a lifetime.

Due to his father’s work, Tommy moved several times throughout his school years, adapting easily and making friends wherever he went.

He started an airplane detailing business in Connecticut, combining his strong work ethic with his entrepreneurial spirit. After later moving to Virginia, he discovered his true career path in construction. A talented carpenter, Tommy was always working on a project and rarely sat still. He took pride in his craftsmanship and in building and fixing things for those he loved. Tommy deeply loved his family and friends and cherished every moment spent with them. Christmas Eve celebrations with the Foley family were among his favorite traditions and brought him great joy each year.

He was a passionate fan of the Philadelphia Eagles and all Philadelphia sports teams, attending many games and sporting events over the years. Music was another great love in his life. Like his parents, he always had music playing in the house and could often be heard singing along.

Continuing his parents’ legacy of philanthropy in the community, Tommy recently restarted a golf tradition to honor his father and uncles who had passed, ensuring their memory and spirit of generosity would live on.

Tommy’s proudest achievement was his son, and he never missed an opportunity to share stories of his talents and accomplishments with anyone who would listen.

Tommy will be remembered as a proud American, for his deep love of his Irish heritage, his affection for dogs, and above all, his devotion to his family. He was fiercely loyal to his friends, generous in spirit, and brought joy and laughter to those fortunate enough to know him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.

A celebration of life is planned for 1-3 p.m. March 7 at O’Brien’s Irish Restaurant in Warrenton. Family and friends are warmly invited to join in sharing good food, memories, music, and raising a toast to honor and celebrate Tommy’s life.
