Tractor Supply inks contract for Cooks Corner store

Tractor Supply Company is in the midst of a nationwide store expansion push and is working to build a store at Cooks Corner. While there are still some governmental hurdles to clear, a 2023 opening is possible, officials say. (Contributed)

The Middlesex County Economic Development Authority (EDA) signed a purchase contract last week with Tractor Supply Company (TSC) headquartered in Brentwood, Tenn., for property at Cooks Corner to locate a $2 million retail store, reported EDA Chairman Gordon White.

The retail store will likely employ as many as 20 local citizens and pay substantial real estate taxes into county coffers. TSC will pay $240,000 in cash for the site, the appraised value of the land, said White.

Members of the EDA said during Thursday’s meeting on Jan. 27 that bringing TSC to Middlesex was what the EDA was created to do — increase the tax base when the county’s finances are under strain and taxes are threatening to go up, and to increase local employment…
