Middlesex Supervisors honored the Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary at the board’s June 3 regular monthly meeting by presenting the group with a framed resolution thanking them for their dedicated service to Middlesex County.

The resolution states that, “The Middlesex County Volunteer Rescue Squad Auxiliary was established on June 3, 1975, with the purpose of providing financial and logistical support to the volunteer rescue squad’s operations and the auxiliary currently has 25 active members.

“The auxiliary currently supports its mission through a variety of community-based activities, including organizing flea markets in Deltaville and Urbanna; hosting the annual Camp Rescue program, which educates children on health and safety topics; holding weekly bingo events every Monday night; sponsoring the annual Rescue Regatta fundraiser in Deltaville; and conducting an annual fund solicitation by mail.”

Crittenden read that “while an exact figure cannot be determined, it is estimated that the auxiliary has raised several million dollars over the years. These contributions have significantly helped offset costs and reduce the financial burden on Middlesex County taxpayers.”
