Middlesex supervisors accepted a gift of 19-acres of land “more or less” located behind the old Rappahannock Central Elementary (RCE) School at Cooks Corner from the Middlesex County School Board (MCSB) at the supervisors Dec. 2, 2025 regular monthly board meeting.
At the Dec. 2 meeting, Middlesex County Attorney Heather Lewis explained to the board that the school board had declared the property “surplus” and had voted in November 2025 to turn the property over to the board of supervisors.
The 19 acres of land are located behind the RCE buildings and are near the property that the county currently uses for recreation and the Middlesex County Animal Shelter and the adjacent three-field Middlesex Pet Friends for Life Dog Park complex.
The land had been gifted to the school board to expand the old campus…
