The Middlesex High School (MHS) Charger football team (0-6, 0-1) lost a Tidewater District Conference game to the West Point Pointers, 43-14. The away defeat came during a rare Thursday night matchup on Oct. 5.
The Chargers had two touchdowns in the game as the first one came in the second quarter on a fumble recovery by JaQuan Griffin who picked up the ball and ran it back 22 yards for the touchdown. The extra point kick was missed.
Middlesex scored again in the second quarter when MHS quarterback Cameron Lambert threw a strike to J. Griffin who ran the ball for a 50-yard touchdown. Lambert scored on the 2-point conversion for the Chargers 14 points in the game.
The Chargers will next host Charles City (0-6, 0-0) this Friday, Oct. 13. The Panthers were blanked 29-0 in their Oct. 6 matchup vs. John Marshall. Friday’s Middlesex-Charles City game at Bristow-Boxley Field will serve as homecoming for the Chargers after storms twice postponed earlier scheduled MHS homecoming games. Kickoff is 7 p.m.
