R. Bruce Murray has qualified as a candidate for the Urbanna Town Council special election set for Nov. 3, reported Melissa D. Welch, Middlesex County’s director of elections and general registrar.
Murray is the only candidate running in the special election so far. The deadline to file for the special election is Aug. 14, at 5 p.m.
The town council recently voted to appoint Murray as a temporary council member to replace Robert E. “Robbie” Wilson III until the special election is conducted.
Wilson resigned as a council member on June 11 and then was elected mayor by the town council following the resignation of former mayor Bill Goldsmith on May 15.
