The Middlesex County community and visitors are invited to the Sunday, Oct. 4, One Community Under God (OCUG) gathering. OCUG is a coming together for worship, music and fellowship followed with a light lunch. OCUG will be conducted at the Urbanna firehouse at 11 a.m. Dress is casual.
One Community Under God is co-hosted this year by 12 churches in Middlesex County. Initially, OCUG began with four churches coming together in 2011. The theme of this year’s joining together is “Community Unity.”
Minister Tina Bonney of First Baptist Amburg will be the main speaker. The pastors of the other hosting churches will share scripture related to the theme. Music will be provided by special groups and there will be congregational singing. An offering will be accepted that will benefit “Backpack Buddies,” a program for Middlesex County school children in need.
Parking will be available in the area at the corner of Virginia Street and Waverly Road.There will be a handicap drop-off area at the Waverly Road side of the firehouse.
