About 10 years ago, a pickleball coach came out to the Deltaville courts to explain to a group of 15 players what pickleball was all about. Pickleball has now taken the country by storm.
The Deltaville courts are set to be cleaned, repaired and resurfaced. In addition, project reps will be taking one of the tennis courts and dividing it into four pickleball courts.
The courts are maintained by the Deltaville Community Association. They are free to the public to use — no fee or membership is required. Organizers note the upcoming project will be costly and greatly appreciate your tax-deductible donations. The DCA is a 501c-3 (nonprofit) organization.
Origin of pickleball name

One is that it was named after Pickles, a dog owned by one of the sports founders, Washington state resident Joel Pritchard, in the mid-1960s. Another is that Pritchard’s wife, a rowing athlete, named it after a pickle boat, which, for some reason, she associated with the newly invented racket sport.
