On Sept. 11, the visiting JV Lady Chargers defeated Mathews in three sets. After losing the first set, 15-25, Middlesex rallied winning 25-16 and 15-9. “Passing and serving woes were a factor to the first set loss but, we rebounded brilliantly in the second set,” said Middlesex Coach Jack Baker.

Consistent, challenging serving from Eva Gagnon and Claire Dise helped the JV Lady Chargers pull ahead in the second set with Claire Dise serving for 9 points.

In the deciding game three, Molly Trudeau contributed big time by serving 8 points in the comeback 15-9 win.

Jordyn Williams and Claire Dise were effective at the net with several kills from good setting by Scarlet Elias. “This MHS JV volleyball team does not go down without a fight!” said Coach Baker.

Middlesex was victorious against the visiting West Point Lady Pointers on Sept. 9, sweeping the match in two sets 25-9 and 26-24.

The first set saw excellent serving from Eva Gagnon and Claire Dise with 10 and 9 points scored, respectively. The second set was closer as the opponent rallied. Middlesex was down 8 points when Eva Gagnon’s 9 consecutive points got the JV Lady Chargers back in the game.

Scarlet Elias and Molly Trudeau did a nice job setting with Allie Davenport and Julia Dise having several well-placed kills. Solid passing from Aubri Harris and Hailey Vaupel in the back row allowed the MHS setters to set up these offensive plays. “I’m very proud of the team’s hard work and never give up attitude,” said Coach Baker.

The JV Lady Chargers won at Lancaster on Monday.

Middlesex hosts Charles City tonight, Thursday, Sept. 18, is at King and Queen on Tuesday, Sept. 23, and is home on Monday, Sept. 29, against Northumberland. The JV play at 5:30 p.m. and the varsity follows at 7 p.m.
