MHS volleyball team still on top Region 1A

The Middlesex High School varsity volleyball team is deep with talent and its record shows it.

With one game left in the regular season, the Lady Chargers are first in Region 1A and first in the Tidewater District. Tonight, Thursday, Oct. 23, Middlesex hosts King William, a double A school, which the Chargers have defeated once this season. Game time is 7 p.m., following the 5:30 p.m. junior varsity matchup.

The Lady Chargers only two losses this season were to Lancaster and Peninsula Catholic in the Battle of the Bay Invitational Tournament.

Technically, the Lady Chargers are 20-2, but they have not lost a regular season match.

With a first place finish, Middlesex will host the Region 1A Tournament, set to begin the first week of November. Dates had not been firmed up at press time.

Lancaster is in second place.

On Oct. 14 visiting Middlesex defeated Charles City 3-0 with scores of 25-9, 25-6 and 25-5.

On Oct. 16 the Lady Chargers swept visiting King and Queen Central 25-11, 25-5 and 25-12.
