The Middlesex High School (MHS) 2025-2026 varsity football team earned five all-first team Region A awards, 11 second team honors and three honorable mention awards.
Davonte Griffin was named to the first team all-region team in offense and defense. Griffin made the first team for his wide receiver play, and on defense, for his play at punt returner.
Jakub Bowen made the first team defense as a linebacker and for his all purpose defensive play. MHS punter Jacob Hatton was first team punter.
Griffin was second team offense for his running back play, linebacker play and as a kick returner. Bowen was second team offense for his work at running back. Zach Dean made the second team offensive team for his offensive lineman play and second team defense as a lineman.
Maliki Reaves was second team at the tight end position; Hatton, second team, kicker; Andrew Harrow, second team, defensive lineman; and Vincent Santos, second team, defensive back. Honorable mention honors went to JaMar Hammond, linebacker; Bowen, running back; and Griffin, offensive all-purpose player.
The MHS 2025-2026 football team had a 5-6 win-loss record; a 3-1 Tidewater District play record and made the first round of the Region A football tournament. The Chargers lost in the first round, 46-14, to the Northumberland Indians.
The VHSL Class 1 state football championship is set for Saturday, Dec. 13, in Salem and will feature the Rappahannock Raiders of Warsaw versus the Rye Cove Eagles.
