The Middlesex High School golf team opened its season on Aug. 4 with a 190-232 win over Mathews at the Piankatank River Golf Course in Hartfield.
Low score of the match was shot by junior Nielson McMinn with a 42. Senior Hudson McMinn and freshman Kai Evans each shot 45.
The Chargers have four returning players from the 2022 State runner-up team. Returners include senior Hudson McMinn, junior Nielson McMinn, junior Abel Crader, and junior Cole Glasco. New players include sophomore Caleb Jackson and freshman Kai Evans.
The Chargers only had six practices leading up to their first match but have been focused. “The guys did really well for having limited time to prepare,” said Lutz. “They have been putting in some meaningful work in a short amount of time.”
The Charger golf team hosted West Point on Aug. 9 and will play at AA King William on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at 4 p.m.
