MC, Urbanna getting $2 million from feds

Middlesex County and the Town of Urbanna will receive approximately $2 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA), which was approved by Congress in March as part of the local and state Coronavirus Fiscal Recovery Funds (CFR).

Middlesex County (MC) and the Town of Urbanna will receive approximately $2 million from the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) which was approved by Congress in March as part of the local and state Coronavirus Fiscal Recovery Funds (CFR).

Middlesex Assistant County Administrator Ann Marie Ricardi announced at the supervisors July 6 meeting that the county will receive $1,699,429 of gross unappropriated funds and Urbanna Mayor Barbara Hartley announced at the town’s July 22 meeting that the town will receive $475,000 in ARPA funds.

The county has received the “first tranche” of $1,027,7144 of which $356,000 has been appropriated. The county will receive another $1,027,714 in CFR funds.

“Staff has been collecting ideas about the spending of ARPA funds, while waiting for the U.S. Treasury Departments’ rules on how the funds can be spent,” said Ricardi…
