Marjorie (“Marge”) Brown Neal, 92, of Williamsburg passed away peacefully on Wednesday, April 12, 2023.
Born in Middlesex County in 1930, Marge grew up in Urbanna and graduated from the College of William & Mary. For many years, she taught Latin at public high schools in Middlesex County, Williamsburg and Richmond. Also, she devoted 20 years of active volunteer service to the American Cancer Society.
A member of the Williamsburg Baptist Church, Marge was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Lawrence Wayne Neal.
She also was preceded in death by her parents, William W. and Sadie S. Brown; sisters, Magdalene B. Lewis and Iva B. White; and brother, William W. Brown Jr.
She is survived by her niece, Maxine L. Hutchinson; and grandnephews and grandnieces, Edwin, Scott, Miranda and Tracy.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Thursday, May 11 at Faulkner Funeral Home, Bristow-Faulkner Chapel, Saluda. In lieu of Flowers, donations may be made in Marge’s memory to the Pitts Memorial Scholarship of Williamsburg Baptist Church, 227 Richmond Road, Williamsburg, VA. 23185.
Her interment will be alongside her husband in Harmony Grove Cemetery, Locust Hill.
