The featured speaker at the June 23 Hometown Heroes banners dedication ceremony was U.S. Marine Corps Sergeant Major Christopher Easter, who also is a Middlesex County Sheriff’s Office deputy. This is the second year for the banners that honor the military service of men and women who are connected to Urbanna. Sgt. Maj. Easter, who will retire from the USMC this summer, commented, “As I leave the military community because of retirement, I find comfort in finding a familiar community within Middlesex.  There are lots of patriotic people that love and serve our country and take time to remember.”

About 80 people attended the dedication at the Urbanna firehouse, according to Coordinator Michele Hutton, who also is the Town of Urbanna treasurer. Banners are being displayed on Urbanna lampposts through Labor Day.
