Leaky school roof to get $498,532 fix

The Middlesex County School Board (MCSB) voted unanimously Monday at the board’s regular monthly meeting to spend $498,532 to “restore” the flat portion of the roof at Middlesex Elementary School (MES) in Locust Hill.

School Superintendent Dr. Tracy Seitz informed the board that the funds to pay for the MES roof will come from the fiscal year 2023-2024 budget, which was appropriated by Middlesex County Board of Supervisors and is part of the school’s capital improvement plan.

Baker Roofing of Norfolk will install approximately 41,600 square foot of new roofing material on the flat portion of the MES roof, which has been leaking along some of the roof seams.

The estimated start work date is Oct. 16 and the estimated completion date is Nov. 7…
