Jonathan Scott Evans was born April 11, 1966 and died Sunday, May 1, 2022, after battling a long illness.
A graduate of Denbigh High School, he gained certification from Johnson and Wales University-Norfolk and worked in various restaurants throughout Hampton Roads, including several in Middlesex County.
Always fun-loving with a quick wit, he will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew him.
He was predeceased in death by his grandparents, Jerome and Helen Evans, also Willard and Norma Smith, all from Newport News.
He is survived by his father and mother, Wayne and Judy Evans; brother, Michael (Sherry) Evans; sister, Laura (Thomas) Holland; son, Jason Garrie (Ashley); two grandchildren; and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
The family is very grateful to the staff of caregivers at Mountain Valley Hospice in Gloversville, N.Y., for the loving care that they provided in his last days. A memorial service to celebrate his life is planned for 11 a.m. Thursday, May 26 at Lower United Methodist Church in Hartfield.
