Jim B. Thrift is the first person to file to run for the Urbanna Town Council and is a qualified candidate for the Nov. 3 General Election, reported Melissa D. Welch, Middlesex County’s director of elections and general registrar.
The position of Urbanna mayor and three members of the Urbanna Town Council will be on the Nov. 3 ballot.
Goldsmith, Chowning, Hanson, Justice Stewart not running
All four persons holding these seats said they are not seeking reelection and include Mayor Bill Goldsmith; and council members Larry Chowning, Merri Hanson, and Beth Justice Stewart.
Urbanna town candidates have a population exemption and are not required to file petition signatures and campaign finance forms, said Welch, adding there is no cost to file for local offices.
