Jerry Wayne Boone, 80, of Shacklefords, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 7, 2025.
He was born in the mountains of Damascus, and raised in King & Queen County with a large family of five boys and three girls.
Jerry graduated from Pleasant Hill High School and had several jobs throughout his life including working at the shipyard and the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). He retired from Chesapeake Forestry, where he worked in the marine department. Jerry was a gentle, kind family man that never met a stranger.
He enjoyed many things in life such as golfing, NASCAR and watching college football. Breakfast was his favorite meal with black coffee. He enjoyed a good hamburger steak from Nick’s. Jerry enjoyed riding around to flea markets and yard sales. He found happiness in the simple pleasures of life: cutting his grass, sitting on the porch with his dog, Nina, and staying in touch with his family, which meant everything to him. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Elijah and Mae Blevins Boone; his wife, Vicki Boone; a sister, Janice Farris; brothers, Blaine, Lacey (Vic), Bob and Dick (Richard); a son, Todd Boone; and a grandson, Lee White. He is survived by his daughter, Roxanne Haden (Michael); granddaughter, Kasey Law (Hunter); grandson, Michael Boone; great-grandchildren, Carson Boone, Sutton, Kennedy and Walker Law; sisters, Margery Ayers and Lisa Alderman (Todd); sisters-in-law, Virginia Boone, Lynn Boone, Becky Boone; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lewis and Micki Lawson; and many special nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, June 14, at New Hope Memorial Baptist Church, 14173 New Hope Road, Shacklefords.
