Nine-year-old Benson Burch and his grandmother Minnie Burch were beach combing along the Rappahannock River shore near Water View and Weeks Creek recently and found a couple of “treasures.”
“Benson and I spend a lot of time in the summer beach combing and we usually find some treasures that float up on the shore,” said Minnie Burch. “It is usually a crab pot buoy, sometimes a whole crab pot or an old bottle.
“Mr. Hawkeye here found this little package that had floated up and when I got there he had unwrapped it. There were two photos in it,” she said. “They are a bit water damaged, but I thought maybe they are special to the person and would want the pictures back.”
